Dorothy Williams March5, 1942- August 19, 2014 Columbus, GA- Dorothy Williams, 72, of Columbus, GA, passed away Tuesday, August 19, 2014 in the comfort of her home. Graveside services will be held Friday, August 22, 2014 beginning at 10:00 A.M. EST at Fort Benning Main Post Cemetery, Reverend Bill McCluskey will be officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M.EST at Vance-Brooks Funeral Home, 4048 Macon Road, Columbus, GA, 31907. Dorothy Merle Rudd Williams was born March 5, 1942 in Ozark, Alabama daughter of the late George Clifton Rudd and Lottie Hendricks Rudd. Other than her parents Dorothy is preceded in death by her devoted husband retired Air force SMSGT Tommy Williams. Survivors include sons, Donald Lane Baird (Candy), Brian Keith Baird (Darlene), James Wendell Gray, Jr, (Terrie), and Scotty Duane Gray (Renee); daughters, Lori Gray Magoon (Jason), and Stacey Ann Williams; brother, Ronnie Rudd (Janice); sister, Carol Lanton (Gerald) ; twenty four grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; many nephews and nieces and other loving extended family members. Dorothy also leaves behind beloved neighbors and friends. She will forever be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, caring sister and friend, whom loved quilting and gardening.
