Dorothy M. Clark, 86, of Inverness, FL, died on Tuesday, June 8, 2010, at her home under the loving care of her family and Hospice. Dorothy was born on Feb. 6, 1924, in St. Petersburg, FL, the daughter of the late William and Clara Ross. Dorothy was the first woman to work at Thompson & McKinnon in St. Petersburg during World War II. She was also a board marker for Merrill, Lynch, Pierce, Fenner and Beane in St. Petersburg after graduating from St. Paul's Catholic High School in 1941. Married in 1947, Dorothy and Ed shared a love for dancing, bowling and playing cards throughout their 63 years together. In St. Pete, Dorothy was a member of St. Jude's Catholic Church, the Women's Club, the Garden Club and the Variety Bowling League until they moved to Floral City in 1973.In Citrus County, they became active members of the Floralite's Dance Club, Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, the Inverness Golf and Country Club and the Bridge Club. She volunteered many years at the Pregnancy Crisis Center. Dorothy was also a lifetime member and past president of the Floral City Garden Club. She had a passion for painting, gardening and teaching others to garden.Survivors include her husband, Edward L. Clark of Inverness; three daughters, Janet Waddell (Michael) of Pinellas Park, FL, Nancy Cockrell (Sam)) of Portland, OR, and Julie Rouse (Danny) of Floral City, FL; son Lawrence R. Clark (Michele) of Tampa, FL; sister Gertrude Cameron of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren include Jeff and Greg Waddell, Suzanne Waddell Zylman, Eric Willcox, Danielle Perry, Jesse, Christine and Andy Rouse, Justin, Ryan, Brendan and Landon Clark; and six great-grandchildren.Visitation for Dorothy will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 13, 2010, at the Heinz Funeral Home in Inverness. A Rosary Service will begin at 3:30 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 14, 2010, at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Inverness. Father James Johnson will preside. Those wishing to attend the interment service can meet at the Heinz Funeral Home at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, June 15, 2010, and follow the funeral procession to Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.
