Arts and crafts were a true passion of hers. She was a lifelong resident of Tuscumbia and a member of the Baptist church. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Douglas Davis, and her father, Leonard Lee Garner. She leaves to cherish her memory her son, Douglas Cass Davis, and friend, Norma Jean Peden; daughter, Lisha Irene Pennington and husband, Calvin, all of Tuscumbia; her loving mother, Irene Garner; brother, Leonard Lando "Sonny" Garner and friend, Charlene Stewart, also of Tuscumbia; nephew, Bryan Garner, of Florence; and niece, Holly Garner, of Lewisburg, Tenn. Dot also leaves behind her precious grandchildren, Ashley Lovelace, Chase Pennington, both of Tuscumbia, Chanda and Amanda Davis, also of Tuscumbia. Dot's grandchildren were the light of her life and she was a truly devoted grandmother.Pallbearers are Sam McClure, John Roger McClure, Lonnie Creasy, Allen Goins, Ray Ayers, Jerry Kimbrough and Bryan Garner.Honorary pallbearers are John Lindsey, Bryan Muse, Eugene McClure and Don Talley.Lisha and Cass wish to thank all of the Good Samaritan Hospice nurses, Leigh Moody, Paula Mundi, Debbie Wright, Vanessa Joiner, Jennifer Lanier, Tiffany Wilson, Tracine Freeman, Tonia Stults and Brenda Gargis, Sunbridge Nursing Home/Oakcrest and staff, Dr. Stephen Collier and Dr. Stanley Clarke, and the Valley Regional Cancer Center in Sheffield, as well as Helen Keller Hospital for all their love and devotion shown to their mother in her time of need. There is a quotation from a French playwright who wrote, "Each of us dies too soon, or too late." That seems so true about Dot leaving us too soon. It certainly reminds us that God has his plan for each of us and that our life and death is in his hands and his plan will always remain a mystery. But, our memories of Dot are precious and powerful with affection and love. Each of us has our memories of a wonderful mother, daughter, sister and grandmother, an extraordinary lady and beautiful person. She touched our hearts with her humor, her presence, her caring and her friendship, but most of all with her love.Dot, for all you have given, it's been an honor to be part of your life. God bless you and keep you till we meet again. To Lisha and Cass and all of Dot's family, always remember:Tonight when sleep beckons you,In dreams you'll feel her near When the sun rises in the morningRemember her love is still here.Morrison Funeral Home, of Tuscumbia, directing.
