SPRINGFIELD -- Dorothy H. Brown Davis, 94, of the Maples and formerly of Maple Street in Perkinsville, died Saturday morning, Oct. 27, 2007, at Springfield Hospital, following a brief illness.She was born May 5, 1913 in Cambridge, Mass., the daughter of Samuel and Florence (Dennen) Hodgkins. She graduated from Watertown, Mass., High School in 1931, and later went on to marry Ray W. Brown on Sept. 5, 1931 in Wilton, N.H.They moved to Bellows Falls in June of 1952 where they owned and operated Ray's Esso on Route 5 until 1961, when they moved to Leisure City, Fla. Mr. Brown died in 1966.Mrs. Davis returned to Bellows Falls in the late 1970s. On Oct. 25, 1987, she married Wendell E. Davis, and they made their home in Perkinsville until he died in May 2006. She was a member of the Pythian Sisters in Bellows Falls and volunteered with the Bellows Falls Seniors. She was a longtime member of the Church of Christ. She was an avid Boston Red Sox fan.Survivors include a daughter, Sally B. Carrico of Fountain, Colo.; a stepson, Robert W. Brown of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two stepdaughters, Delores Mellish of Perkinsville and Linda Davis-Bissing of Overland Park, Kan.; six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.A funeral service will take place on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the DAVIS MEMORIAL CHAPEL in Springfield, with Richard Stromberg, officiating.
