TOMPKINS Daniel D., 57, of Clifton, formerly of Pompton Plains, died Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at Chilton Memorial Hospital in Pompton Plains.Born in Paterson, Daniel was the son of Louis W. and Eleanor P. Tompkins. Growing up in Pompton Plains, he graduated from Pequannock Township High School. An active volunteer with the town, he coached Little League and basketball there. He was always very active with the Pequannock softball leagues.A Recreational Therapist, Daniel worked for Greystone Hospital until retiring in 2008.He is survived by his brother, Timothy Tompkins of Greer, SC; his sister, Pauline Ridgeway of Williamsburg, VA; his brothers-in-law, Timothy J. Traynor and his wife Roseann, Daniel F. Traynor, and Christopher J. Traynor and his wife Noreen; his sister-in-law, Mary Traynor Trella and her husband Matthew; and his nieces and nephews, Anthony, Taylor and Brett Tompkins and James, Katy and Amy Ridgeway, and ten nieces and nephews on his wife's side. He was predeceased by his wife, Colleen Traynor Tompson in 2008; his parents, Louis and Eleanor Tompkins; his brother, Tom Tompkins; and his father and mother-in-law, John J. and Alice F. Traynor. A funeral service will be held 10:30 AM Saturday at the First Reformed Church, 529 Newark-Pompton Tpke., Pompton Plains. Burial will follow. Visiting hours will be Friday from 7-9 PM at the M.
