D. Michael Smith Naturalist CANANDAIGUA - D. Michael Smith, age 61, of West Avenue, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2011, at F.F. Thompson Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Rosemary C. Smith; three children, Colin M. Smith (Jen McGuire), Adam P. (Meredith L.) Smith and Byron C. Smith; mother, Helen Smith; sister, Julianne (Charles) Hoffman; several nieces and nephews, including Emily Hoffman (Brett Guyette); and several cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Donald H. Smith in 1995. Mike attended Canandaigua schools and was a graduate of Canandaigua Academy, class of 1968. He earned a bachelor's degree from the Environmental Science and Forestry School in Syracuse. Mike worked as a landscape architect for Bayer Associates of Honeoye Falls and he truly loved his work. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hiking and fishing. Mike also loved music. There will be no calling hours. His memorial service will be held on Monday at 10 a.m. at Johnson-Kennedy Funeral Home Inc., 47 N. Main St., Canandaigua. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Canandaigua.
