1935 - 2012 HOLYOKE -- Claude L. Morin, 77, of Holyoke, passed away on Friday, January 13, 2012 at the Holyoke Soldiers Home, after a long courageous struggle with Alzheimer's Disease, with care and support from his family and the Soldiers Home staff. He was born in Leominster, MA, son of the late Levite and Anna (LeMoine) Morin, and was a graduate of St. Bernard High School and Springfield College.Claude served with the United States Marines during the Korean Conflict and was a teacher with the Holyoke School System for over 36 years. He coached both swimming and soccer at Holyoke High School, and coached volleyball at Westfield State College for a short time. Claude was instrumental in helping found the Holyoke Youth Soccer League.He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Patricia A. (FitzGibbon) Morin, and his children; Kevin M. Morin of Granby, Heidi L. Morin of Holyoke, Natalie Ryall, Daniel Morin, Maura Stevens and Megan Morin, he also leaves two brothers, Ramon Morin of RI, and Dennis Morin of WA, as well as four sisters, Lois Ayers of NH, Charlene Peterson, Deann Morin and Michelle Morin all of MA, 7 grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Claude was predeceased by his brother Milton Morin of Hadley, MA.Claude was a proud and loving family man, and a dedicated teacher and coach, who loved his work and will be missed.MORIN -- Calling hours will be held Monday from 3 to 5 p.m. in the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke. Funeral services and burial are private and at the convenience of the family.
