Obituary of Claude Chartrand

CHARTRAND, ClaudePassed away on November 1, 2016 in Montreal after a tough battle with a sudden illness. He leaves behind his loving wife Fotini Hadjis, his two kids Christopher and Alexandra, his mother Lucille Boutin and his siblings Serge, Alain, Sylvain and Denise. His unexpected death shall leave an unfillable void in the lives of his nephews and nieces, his friends, his colleagues and the numerous people that have been blessed to know him. Claude was first and foremost a teacher, a fighter, a confidant, and an ardent defender of the rights of others. During his long career as a Crown prosecutor, Claude never hesitated to devote countless hours to help a colleague, educate his juniors, and to ensure that justice be rendered to victims and their families. Claude was a model of integrity and determination, an inspiring advocate, and an exceptional jurist. His friends and buddies, however, knew him more as an avid tennis player, a wine enthusiast, and a perpetual student of fly fishing. To his wife, Claude was her dear Heathcliff and her Jack McCoy. As for us, his children, he was simply "the best dad in the world". To honour this great man one last time, his family invites you on the Tuesday, November 8 at the Mount Royal Funeral Complex (1297 Chemin de la Forêt, Outremont, H2V 2P9, 514-279-6540) from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and 5 p.m.-9 p.m. The funeral will take place on Wednesday, November 9 at 11 a.m. at the St-Viateur of Outremont Church (1175 Laurier W, Montreal, H2V 3R5).
