Catherine Nora (Kiel) Owen of Binghamton Catherine Nora (Kiel) Owen, born on June 2, 1928, went to be with her Lord on Friday, March 23rd, in Florida, surrounded by her family, after a long and courageous struggle from complications of diabetes. Throughout this period, she never lost her sense of humor or zest for life. She was married to Kenneth E. Owen on April 23, 1948 and he predeceased her in 1997. She is survived by her eight children, Kathy and Gary Hoy, Christine and Dennis Blythe, Kent and Michelle Owen, Kevin and Janet Owen, Kim Owen, Keith and Kristin Owen, Robin and Jeffrey DeFrank and Dawn and Shaun Kerins; her 18 grandchildren, Jason and Jamie Hoy, Brad Blythe, Jason, Brian and Corie Owen, Jenna and Daniel Owen, Kiel and Kasey Owen, Nick Owen, Anastasia, Vincent, Dominick, Katarina, Zeohna and Brittiney DeFrank and Owen Kerins; along with four great-grandchildren. She was retired from Lourdes Hospital's Environmental Service Department. She was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 478 Women's Auxiliary and a member of the Marine Corps auxiliary. She was a Sunday school teacher and a lifetime member of the Kirkwood United Methodist Church. She will best be remembered as a wonderful mother, who was always there for her family; her passion for travel and last minute trips across the country to help her children and grandchildren, her love for flowers, the birds at her feeders and her fondness for HATS. She was a kind and gentle person. She will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her. Calling hours will be 5:30 - 8:30 on Friday, March 30, at the Savage Funeral Home. Services will be on Saturday at the Kirkwood United Methodist Church at 10 a.m. with Pastor Cindy officiating.
