CAROLYN M. JOHNSON - BURLINGTON - Carolyn M. Johnson, 77, of Burlington, formerly of Taftsville, died on Thursday, May 30, 2013, surrounded by her loving family at her home. Carolyn was born at home on Jan. 15, 1936, in Huntington, to Maurice and Edith (Driver) Moxley. Carolyn attended school in South Pomfret and graduated from Woodstock High School, Class of 1953. Carolyn held a lifelong connection to Vermont history, its land and the Vermont people. Carolyn was a very caring, loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Philip "Phil" Johnson; daughter, JerriAnn Benjamin and husband, Curt, and their children and grandchildren; daughter, Jennifer Brown and husband, Russell; son James Ellis and wife, Laura, and their children and grandchildren; and daughter, Jill Dole and husband, Ross, and their children and grandchildren. Carolyn is also survived by her brothers, Robert Moxley; Dale Moxley and wife, Sue, and their daughter; Stephen Moxley and wife, Sandy, and their son and wife. Carolyn also leaves Phil's daughters, Jennifer Calder and Melissa Wilson. Those who had the pleasure of knowing Carolyn were blessed; they shall never fail to remember what a truly beautiful person she was, her embracing smile and lovely blue eyes. Carolyn gave the gift of joy to all she met. Through the beautiful Carolyn, the Lord spoke and smiled upon the earth. A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 7, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the First Congregational Church of Woodstock. Private committal services will be held by the family at a future date.
