Carolyn Elizabeth Collins Johnson, of 114 Harvard Avenue, wife of John G. Johnson, died Thursday, February 1, 2007, at St. Francis Hospital, Downtown. Born in Greenville, she was a daughter of the late Walter Payton and Pearl Wilson Collins. Mrs. Johnson was a member of Christ Church United Methodist Church for over 50 years, and was a longtime church treasurer. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are a daughter and son-in-law, Jacqueline and Barry Donehue of Powdersville; a son and daughter-in-law, Lewis Jr. and Debbie Mahaffey of Simpsonville; three grandchildren, Leslie Mahaffey of Greenville, Barry Donehue Jr. and his wife, Jennifer, of Belton, and Johnny Mahaffey; and a great-grandchild, Annalise Donehue. She was preceded in death by a son, Stanley Mahaffey; two sisters, Annie Garner and Gladys McGee; and five brothers, Plumer, John, Bill, Murray and Jack Collins. Memorials may be made to Christ United Methodist Church Building Fund, 901 Easley Bridge Road, Greenville, S.C. Visitation will be held Sunday, February 4, 2007, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. Funeral services will be held Monday, February 5, 2007, at 11 a.m. at Christ United Methodist Church, with visitation held before the service, at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery, West.
