SMITH, CHRISTINE H.Christine Hervey Smith, age 95, passed away on Tuesday, December 29, 2009, at her home in Gainesville. She was a daughter of Rev. James Walter Hervey, DD, a Methodist minister for over forty years. Christine graduated from Drury College and taught English for a short time. A homemaker, loving mother and grandmother, and a devoted, wife, Christine was a steadfast and shining example of Christian love. She was an active member of FUMC in Gainesville for forty-eight years. During this time she taught and assisted the Adult Cum Dubl Sunday School class. Her active role was a source of inspiration for her family and friends alike. Christine was preceded in death by her husband, William Ward Smith, a retired entomologist for the US Public Health Service and University of Florida. Survivors are her sons, Richard Caldwell Smith of Miami and Ward Hervey Smith of Corinth, Mississippi. Nieces and nephews are Dr. Billie Griffin Porter of Indianapolis, Indiana, Larry Keast and Donald Keast of Houston, Texas. Grandchildren are Christina Noone and Sarah Caldwell Smith of New York, Morton Ward Smith of Jackson, Mississippi and Janell Charmaine Smith of Corinth, Mississippi.
