GIBEAU, CECILE (nee ST. MARSEILLE), 92 Ocala - Cecile Gibeau (nee St. Marseille) died of natural causes on January 5th, 2015. She was 92. Her passing leaves a quite an empty space in our families personal universe, not only for her three sons and four daughters, but also for her remaining siblings, in-laws, her grand-children and all her nieces and nephews. Her stubborn love for all of us was an incredible support that lasted all through our lives. As a young mother in Florida, a foreign land for her, she struggled to teach herself to speak English and then to read and write it. In those days she dyed her naturally dark hair a bright red and drove a shiny red V8 convertible. She said she enjoyed being whistled at. As she had more children that car was replaced by an eight passenger station wagon to accommodate all of us, also bright red. People seeing our car assumed we were officers from the fire department. Some of her favorite music was Dylan's 'Mr. Bojangles', The Beatles 'Here comes the Sun' and anything by David Bowie. She was a great reader of pot boiler mysteries. Her favorite perfume was 'L'Air du Temps' by Nina Ricci. The flower she liked the most was the bird of paradise. Her furniture was fake black lacquer Chinese complimented with wool oriental rugs. She always wanted to be near the ocean, to walk the beach yet she was afraid of swimming. In her 60's and 70's she was an avid golfer. Later in life she discovered in herself, a knack for making imaginative greeting cards. She was astounded to have reached 92 as she often said. However some dementia started to appear. Other physical ailments too. She lost weight. She said she was ready to go, and so she did. Cecile will be buried near her parents in Montreal Quebec. We will miss her dearly.
