MCKENNA, CATHERINE P. "KAY"Catherine P. "Kay" McKenna, 73, died peacefully on January 19, 2005 at St. Joseph's Hospital, in Syracuse, NY, after a long illness. She was raised in Riverdale, NY. A longtime resident of Rye, NY, she had spent many of her last years living in Greenwich, CT, and wintering in Singer Island, FL. Very recently, she was a resident at Birchwood Health Care Center in Liverpool, NY. She was a graduate of Mother Cabrini High School in NY City, and Mount Ida College in Newtown, MA, and Berkley School of Business in NY. She was a longtime member of Westchester Country Club. She also loved to spent time at the old hotels in Spring Lake, NJ each summer. She was an avid bridge player, and loved all music, but especially, Irish music. She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Sheedy; a brother, Charles Sweeney, and her second husband, Richard McKenna. She is survived by three children: two sons: Stephen (Barbara) Sheedy of Warwick, NY, and David (Lynn) Sheedy of Carmel, NY. One daughter, Susan (Burt) Kasson of Baldwinsville, NY. Three grandchildren: Timothy Kasson of North Myrtle Beach, SC; Stephen Kasson of Boston, MA, and Neil Kasson of Baldwinsville, NY. A brother, Michael Sweeney of Greenwich, CT and Singer Island, FL and former husband, and longtime companion, Willard Nelson of Greenwich, CT, and Singer Island, FL. She was a communicant of St. Paul of the Cross Catholic Church in North Palm Beach, FL. Reposing, Hawthorne Funeral Home, Friday 2-4 and 7-9 pm.
