O'Toole, Brendan Patrick, age 24, succumbed, October 23, 2010, to complications resulting from a traumatic brain injury sustained in an automobile accident on September 8, 2005. Brendan is survived by his mother Karen James; father, Dennis O'Toole; sister Mary O'Toole; and stepdads Thomas James and Tom Ellison; uncles and aunts Bruce and Lynda O'Toole, Paul and Tina Hutchins, Becky and Terry Gattis; cousins Bryan, Heather, Autumn, Drew, Sarah and Joshua; and "Siblings" Thomas, Niko, Amanda, Kennedy, Ricky, and Kim. Brendan graduated from South Broward High School in 2005 where he was involved in several organizations including JROTC. He served as manager for the Swimming and Water Polo teams, and was a photographer for the yearbook and newspaper. Brendan was an incorrigible flirt, a true and loyal friend and aspired to return to South Broward High to teach English. However, in the five years following the accident, Brendan taught lessons much different from literature, grammar and composition. In his quiet struggle, his family, friends and all those who cared for him learned to face adversity with grace and courage, to strengthen bonds of love that define family, to live each day fully for no one is promised tomorrow, and to leave no words of love or support unspoken. Brendan's ready smile, infectious laugh and his kind and gentle heart will be missed by all he touched. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, October 29, 2010 at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 901 NE 2nd St., Ft. Lauderdale, FL.
