SPENCE, Barbara Ruth(nee Knott)Born in London, Ontario on February 28, 1928. She passed away peacefully on December 2, 2014. Predeceased by her loving husband Bob (2013) whom she was married to for 61 years. She is survived by her wonderfully caring children and their spouses, Don and Rose Spence, Ginny and Jim Seguin, and Brian and Tracey Spence. Bob and Barb's super grandchildren include Sarah (1996), Amanda, Cassie, Josh, Stephanie, Nick, Alex, Tanner, Mitchell and an additional bundle of joy; their great- granddaughter Rian. She will also be missed by her niece Mary Anne Mayville (nee Knott) and husband Bill of Kingsville. Predeceased by her parents Wilbur and Isabelle Knott; her brother Robert Knott and his wife Jean, and her nephew Fred Knott. Barb graduated from the College of Education of Wayne State University in 1949. She taught primary level children in Detroit, North York, Brantford, Kitchener (supply teaching) and Windsor. She retired in 1987. She was a long time member of Overeaters Anonymous since January 4, 1979. Barb loved to read and do crossword puzzles, but as her vision faded she enjoyed music and writing occasional rhymes (though she couldn't read her own writing). She was very grateful to her children and grandchildren for the guidance and assistance they provided to her and Bob. Visitation will take place at the Walter D. Kelly Life Celebration Centre (519-252-5711) on Friday, December 5, 2014 from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held at the Victoria Greenlawn Reception Centre (between the two cemeteries on Hwy .3) at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 6, 2014. Interment to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Grateful thanks to the loving and caring staff and residents of Oak Park Terrace. Donations in memory of Barb may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
