HOPE VALLEY, R.I. - Barbara A. (Palmer) Hill, 77, of Main Street, Hope Valley, R.I., died peacefully on Thursday Oct. 21, 2013 at Rhode Island Hospital. She was the beloved wife of John E. "Jack" Hill, Jr.Born in Hopkinton, R.I. on Feb. 24, 1936 she was the daughter of the late Clayton P. and Martha (Wilcox) Palmer.Barbara took great pride in her family and home. A traditionalist, she embraced strong family values. She had a love for music and enjoyed many years of traveling with her husband and family. Barbara "Sweetie," her Boston Terrier, held a special place in her heart.Besides her loving husband of 59 years she will be sadly missed by her children, John E. Hill, III of Jacksonville, Fla.; Donna Hill-Carper, of Hopkinton; and Lore Hill-Joslin, of Hopkinton. She was the loving grandmother of James Aaron Smith of Westerly and great-grandmother of Madison Smith of Westerly. She was predeceased by her two sisters; Evelyn Hawkins and Lucille Tefft.Calling hours will be held on Monday Nov.4, from 4-7 p.m. at the S.R. Avery Funeral Home, 3A Bank St., Hope Valley, R.I. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 5 at 10 a.m. at the S.R. Avery Funeral Home. Burial will follow in First Hopkinton Cemetery.
