Barbara Packer Wright, 83, of Port Orange, FL, passed away on January 25, 2010, following a brief illness. She is survived by her husband, John Benjamin Wright; son, Steven Wright of Port Orange, FL; son, J. Corey Wright of Massillon, OH; daughter, Glenda L. King of Augusta, GA; and sister, Elizabeth Turp of Port Orange, FL. Barbe grew up in Portlandville, NY (near One-onta) and attended nursing school near there. She moved to Miami, FL, in 1949 where she married her husband, then returned to Portlandville while he was in the service for 2 years. They moved to Ft. Wayne, IN, where he attended Indiana Tech, and then upon graduation, they moved to Baltimore, MD. In 1958 they moved to North Canton, OH, when her husband accepted a position at Goodyear Aerospace in Akron. They spent the next 34 years in North Canton, where Barbe worked at the Greentown Elementary School and was very active with her church and church choir, both as a choralist and as director of the youth choirs. She delivered Meals on Wheels for many years, and was an avid antiques and garage sale hunter. In 1992, after her husband retired, they moved to Port Orange, FL. Over the years in Port Orange, Barbe was involved in a variety of activities, including delivering Meals on Wheels, the Red Hats Ladies, and, along with her husband, an active member of Dept. 56 (Dickens' Village collectors). And she loved her bingo and dominoes! Mom, we love you dearly and will miss you forever! A memorial service will be held on Jan. 30, 2010, at 1:00 p.m. at the Pickwick Village Clubhouse in Port Orange.
