Annie Sue Booker, 95, Gadsden, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2011, in Pensacola, Fla., with her family at her side. Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Collier-Butler Chapel. Pastor Taylor Gallman will officiate with burial following at Forrest Cemetery. Sue married Parham Booker Sr. in 1934 and raised her family in three different residences on Maitre Street in Gadsden. She had a strong Christian faith as shown by her commitment to Bellevue United Methodist Church. A founding member of the church, she served in many capacities, as Sunday School teacher and president of WMU and remained active through the years.First and foremost, she was a wonderful mom to Parham Jr., Bob and Mary. Her guidance and unconditional love will be greatly missed. Sue was always available to help her elderly parents and Dad's parents, her sisters, brothers and friends who were ill or needed help. She provided loving care to many people. Even in her later years, she worked all day in her home or yard and still found time to care for others. Sue Booker set a wonderful example for us all.Annie Sue was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Parham N. Booker Sr.; her parents, Louie and Ethel Humphries; brothers, Robert and Chester; sisters, Mildred Williams (L.D.) and Virginia Watts (Ralph); and daughter-in-law, Frances Booker; brother-in-law, Edmund Booker (Elizabeth); sister-in-law, Amy Humphries. She is survived by her sons, Parham Jr., Bob (Judy); daughter, Mary Edwards (Tom); brother-in-law, Will Booker (Virginia); sister, Betty Thomas (Walt); brothers, Bill Humphries and John Humphries (Rosamond); grandchildren, Amy Burton (Randy), Rob Booker (Jennifer), Nick Booker (Deanna), Deanna and Jenny Booker, Kristen Holloday (Brenden), Courtney Booker (Jeff); great-grandchildren, Parham VII, Jonathan (Katie), and Kristen Booker, James, Rachel, Savannah, Annie, Nathan and Matthew Burton, Issac and Olivia Booker, Jake and Wesley Harper, Nicole and Juliana Booker, Hayden and Lyla Dykes, Jordan Amber, Natasha Holloday; great-great-granddaughter, Kandace Booker; and special niece, Virginia Cash.
