Anna Lucile Whaley Cox, Anna Lucile Whaley Cox, 91, a homemaker, died Saturday, July 17, 2004, in Sarasota. The service will be at 1 p.m. EDT Friday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3717 Thomasville Road, with burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Thomasville, Ga. Family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. EDT Friday at the church.Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southwest Florida, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238. She passed away at the home of her son, Joseph, and his wife, Carole, in Sarasota. Born on Sept. 8, 1912, in Shellman, Ga., she was the daughter James Wilkins Whaley and Anna Arcadia McMillan. She married Virgil Augustus Cox in 1939 and lived in Columbus, Ga., until 1947.She lived in Thomasville for 36 years in Tallahassee for the past 20 years. Lucille devoted her life to her family and was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was compassionate, caring, known for her sense of humor and an avid Braves fan. Survivors include four children, Virgil Joseph (and wife Carole) of Sarasota, Betty Hunter (and husband Bill) of Crawfordville, Pat Ogden (and husband Patrick) of Salt Lake City and John Cox (and wife Shannon) of Mesa, Ariz.; 16 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil, and two sons, Thomas Randolph and James Michael Cox. The family expresses deep appreciation to the Lucile's hospice team members for their compassionate care during her final weeks.
