Obituary of Anna Anderson

ANDERSON, (nee DORAN) Anna Irene `Anne'Anna Irene `Anne' Anderson (nee Doran) of North Vancouver passed away on February 15, 2011. Born April 23, 1920 on a homestead near Ponoka, Alberta, Anne is the youngest daughter of Lawrence and Minnie Doran. In 1941, she married Gordon Anderson, a flying instructor RCAF. Anne was an independent and solitary spirit who loved adventure, the outdoors, and flying with Gordon. Anne always had an appreciation of beauty whether it be nature, art, or fashion. A life long athlete and a lover of the outdoors, she hiked and cross-country skied well into her eighties. Anne could always be found doodling faces or horses, and when she took up painting she excelled in colorful depictions of nature. Her children and grandchildren will treasure her artwork as well as her independent spirit. Anne is survived by her sister Laura Wierzba of Ponoka, three daughters: Barbara Anderson of Victoria; Gail Ghai of Sarasota, Florida; Janice Dalzell of West Vancouver; 10 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. Anne was predeceased by her husband Gordon in 1972, her grand daughter Katherine Watson in 1987 and her son Larry in 2009. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 o'clock on Saturday February 19, 2011 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in North Vancouver. A memorial mass will be held in Ponoka at a later date. Anne will be interred in the family plot next to her late husband Gordon (at Holy Cross Cemetery Edmonton). The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the team of the North Shore Hospice for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the North Shore Hospice, 319 East 14th Street, North Vancouver, BC V7M 1P6 or a charity of your choice.
