Amanda-Anclin Williams, born in 1921, spouse of Germany Williams, died. Please consult the obituary here:
Amanda Anclin William went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus, on Nov. 2, 2014. Mandy was born on March 3, 1921, in Bayou Goula, La. She was raised and educated in the nearby town of White Castle. For a small town girl, Mandy led a life she couldn"t have imagined. At the age of 18, she worked for the Public Health Service. Traveling down the bayous, she would transcribe the doctor"s diagnoses and recommendations. Switching jobs as World War II approached, she became a bank teller. This was not satisfying. So on Oct. 12, 1942, Mandy enlisted in the Women"s Army Corps (WAC). For a young woman who had never been farther from home than Pensacola, the military opened up a new life of travel and adventure. Her first assignment was in Des Moines, Iowa for finance school. Thus started the firsts: 1. The first time away from home, 2. The first snow, 3. The first freezing cold. From Des Moines to Ft. Sheridan outside of Chicago where she met and later married James "PeeWee" Williams. The next 24 years were spent as a military wife, traveling to Germany twice, Massachusetts, Indiana, and Texas. During this time, Mandy took up bowling, crafting, and volunteering. In 1968, the family retired to St. Augustine. Mandy worked at the Vagabond Shop for several years and was an active member of the Ponce Women"s Golf Association.Mandy was preceded in death by her parents, brother, E.J., sister, Rosemary, and her husband of 67 years.
