Alma Higgins, 89, died March 23, 2009, at Stillwaters ALF in Palm Bay. She was born in Houghton, Mich., and lived in Barefoot Bay for 10 years, coming from Gainesville. She was a registered nurse and a member of the Nurses Association. Survivors include her daughters, Nancy Sidwell of Barefoot Bay, Christine Higgins of Virginia Beach, Va., and Kathleen Jones of Columbus, Ohio; son, John Higgins of Sparta, Tenn.; and eight grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of more than 60 years, Raymond Higgins, who died May 27, 2007. SERVICES: No services are planned at this time.
