DAVIS Alan Roy M. May 26, 1927 - September 9, 2008 Passed away peacefully with his wife Janet and his daughter Donna with him at his bedside. Alan's parents moved to Vancouver when he was two years old after his father graduated from medical school at McGill University in Quebec. Alan grew up in West Point Grey and was a graduate from Lord Byng High School the class of 1945. He had a brief marriage after his graduation from high school, and joined the Army in 1950. He served in Korea until April 1952. After returning home he pursued a career in art, and resumed his passion for skiing. He worked at several jobs throughout the years and in 1970 he moved to Whistler, B.C. He loved it in Whistler, and was soon to be known as `t-shirt Al'. He had started to do silkscreen prints, was a sign maker and his studio was always busy. He had gotten a job working on a film called McCabe and Mrs. Miller and that experience changed his life. He would later join I.A.T.S.E. and retiring was not in his vocabulary. He worked in the paint department until his health became a factor and he had to retire. Alan is survived by his wife Janet (Goss) Davis, his step family Anna MacLean, Della Lewis, Cher Goss, and Tom Lewis. He is also survived by his daughters Donna Vannerus (Don), Laura Thorner (Andy), also many Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren, numerous cousins and his Aunt Pat Eli in Kingston, Ontario. A special thank you to Dr. Golin, the nurses and care staff at the Royal Arch Masonic Home for their care of a truly remarkable man. A celebration of Alan Davis' life will be held in Whistler at the Spruce Grove Park Facility on Sunday, October 5th at 4:00pm.
