Terry Lee Smith, 56, of 8 Agewood Court, died Sunday, April 15, 2007. Born in Pelzer, he was a son of Josephine Duncan Smith of Greenville and the late Oel Bruce Smith, Jr. Mr. Smith served in the U.S. Marines, two tours in Vietnam, and was the recipient of two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star. He retired from the Greenville County Sheriff's Office. He was also a private investigator, and recently employed by the U.S. Postal Service. Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his wife, Tammy D. Smith; three daughters, Terra Smith Dillard, Brandy Smith Foster, and Sasha N. Smith; a sister and brother, Mary Smith Etris and O.B. Smith; five grandchildren, Kane Foster, Caitlin Dillard, Gabriel Dillard, Killian Cook, and Cadence Foster; a special nephew, Allen Smith; and two nieces; and four nephews. Visitation will be Thursday, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest. Services will be Friday, at 3 p.m., at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Greenville County Sheriff's Office Scholarship Foundation, 4 McGee Street, Greenville, SC 29601. The family is at the home of his mother, Josephine Smith, 500 McCrary Street, Greenville.
