HORN Ronald George Horn, 72, passed away January 28, 2007. He was born in Jersey City, NJ, the fourth son of Elisabeth Carpenter Horn and William Robert Horn. He was reared in rural Wayne County and began his career at age 10 at Knippenberg Plant Nursery for $1 an hour and all the ice cream he could eat. He drove a 1940 Ford two-door deluxe to Indiana University from which he graduated in 1956. It was replaced by a succession of collectible cars. His favorite was an '86 El Camino. He married Lois Douma with whom he had four children, Ronnie (Betsy), Nancy, David and Stephen. He captained a skiff, the Hey Dad, in the Atlantic Ocean off Long Beach Is., NJ where the family summered. His greatest accomplishment was teaching Nancy to drive. Ron worked in sales management for 30 years with U.S. Steel, 20 in NYC and 7 In Jacksonville. From the 26th floor of the then Gulf Life Tower and later from Julington Creek, he surveyed his Florida paradise and knew he was a very lucky steelman. Ron loved his family, things nautical, and a good bargain. He married Mary Ann Kish in 1996 and together they explored the world by RV, backpack, boats, planes, and Sunday daytrips. Children David and Nancy and brother Bob preceded Ron in death. He is survived by children Betsy Bleich (husband Bruce) and Stephen Horn; grandchildren Caitlin and Ryan Bleich; and siblings Alan (Mary Ellen) Horn, Eugene (Lois) Horne, sister-in-law Peg Horne, and wife Mary Ann.
