ARMSTRONG, RALPH L. age 76 of Sumiton passed away Friday November 25, 2011 at his residence. Mr. Armstrong served in both the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force serving in Japan, Korea, and stateside. He owned both a plumbing business and construction business before going to Alaska to work as a pipefitter. From the Aleutian Islands to Prudhoe Bay his many adventures in the wilds of Alaska were always the subject of stories he vividly told to his family and friends. Funeral services will be Sunday November 27, 2011 at 7:00 P.M. in the New Horizon Memorial Chapel. Rev. Joey Hill will officiate. Visitation will be Sunday 5:30-7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held Monday at 11:30 A.M. in the New Horizon Memorial Gardens with burial to follow. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Norris Armstrong; brothers, R.D. and Donald Armstrong. His survivors include his wife of 53 years, Linda Pledger Armstrong of Sumiton; children, Karen Mitchell (Keith) of Wetumpka, Ralph Lee Armstrong (Karen) of Pensacola FL, Kristi Armstrong (William) of Montgomery; grandchildren, David, Eric, Tony, Brandon, Lindsay, Cody, and Carly; brothers, Hubert Armstrong of Texas City, Texas, Curtis Armstrong of League City, Texas and a host of relatives and friends to cherish his memories.
