BERLIN - A service of thanksgiving and remembrance of Mary Marchetta "Marky" Owen, 88, formerly of Sterling Hill in Barre Town, was held Monday, Oct. 21, 2013, at 11 a.m. in the Hooker and Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy St., Barre. She died Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2013, at the Woodridge Nursing Home in Berlin. The Rev. William Wick, chaplain at Norwich University in Northfield, officiated and read the poem "The Dash" and "Famous Last Words," from Marky to her daughters and granddaughters. Grandson Erik Moreau read a poem. Special music played during the service included the hymns "Look For Me at Jesus' Feet," "I Then Shall Live" and "Sweet, Sweet, Spirit." Following the service, family and friends gathered at the Hilltop Restaurant on Quarry Hill for a time of sharing and remembrance and a luncheon.
