Cox, Helen Patton, January 26th, 1 a.m. at Touro Infirmary, New Orleans. Born in Pittsburgh, PA on February 14th, 1934, Helen had fond memories of her early years growing up in Deep Creek Lake, MD and then later in Hollywood, FL. She enjoyed competing as an AAU swimmer. She was Vice President of her senior high school class and voted "most likely to succeed". She attended Stephen's College in Columbia, MO and then Newcomb College in New Orleans, where she was vice-president of the student body. After graduation, she resided in New Orleans and worked for Sears Roebuck & Co. in their Management Training program. She later became a member of the Orleans' Club. In 1978 she founded As You Like It Silver Shop on Magazine Street. In 1986 she opened a second location in Natchez, MS. Despite numerous set backs in her career, she successfully grew the business to become one of the largest and most successful estate silver dealers in the country. In 1994 she published a very successful book entitled, "Silver Flatware: An Illustrated Guide to Pieces, Manufacturers and Care". In 2001 she was featured in the book "Turn Your Passion Into Profits". She was an expert in her field and invited to speak at numerous engagements about her passion. Helen was admired by all whom she met. She always found a tremendous joy in meeting new people and talking with anyone near her. She was naturally optimistic and she made instant friends as she had a special gift of making people feel comfortable around her. Beloved daughter of William Duncan Patton and Elizabeth Gibson Patton. Beloved mother of three sons, Robert Harold Cox, Jr., Charles Duncan Cox, and William Rogers Cox.
