GEORGE J. "SONNY" GODIN - WINOOSKI - George J. "Sonny" Godin, 85, a longtime resident of Winooski, died Thursday, June 26, 2014, in Birchwood Terrace Healthcare in Burlington with loving family by his side, following a short illness. George was born in Winooski on June 28, 1928, the son of George Jerome Godin and Mamie (Demag) Godin, and attended schools in Winooski. He proudly served his country for the United States Marine Corps. George worked for many years in construction trucking and car sales. Sonny was a member of the RVA, VFW, American Legion, Eagles Club, and the Moose Lodge. He enjoyed playing pool "The Legend," stock car driving, and being with family and friends. He is survived by three children, Gary Godin and his wife, Angela, and their children, Joe, Cory, and Dustin; Ricky Godin and Michelle Lamphere and his children, Kyle and Jennifer; and Charlene Godin and her children, Richard and Erika; greatgrandchildren, Caylie and Anthony; his companion of many years, June Brown of Rutland; and many friends. He was predeceased by his great-granddaughter, Ali; and former wife, Pauline Godin Rock. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday, July 2, 2014, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., with prayer services beginning at 2 p.m., at the LaVigne Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 132 Main St. in Winooski.
