Williams, Gayla Faye DELMAR Gayla Faye Williams, born in Centrailia, Ill. January 31, 1946 passed away in Mesa July 16, 2013 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was predeceased by her parents, Willard and Hazel Williams of Salem, Ill. and her sister, Vera May Fisk of Longmont, Colo. Ms. Williams earned her bachelor's degree (RN) in nursing from the University of Indiana, Evansville, Ind. and a MS in nursing from Washington State University. Her 36 year career in nursing, with extensive experience in nursing education, infectious diseases and mental health, came to an abrupt end with her diagnosis of early onset Alzheimer's disease May, 2003. At that time she was a clinical nurse specialist in psychiatry at Albany Medical Center, Albany and was a very well respected colleague in the medical community. She lived most of her adult life in Delmar. She is survived by her sister, Verdena Ray Rogers of Mesa and many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews all in Arizona. She is also survived by and was devoted to her life partner, Dr. Linda Adamchak of Delmar and her Godchildren, Allyssa and Brianna Staley-Ross, all of W. Coxsackie and Delmar. The date for a memorial service in the future will be published. Gayla will be remembered for her love of life and her love of all of the people she served and befriended, her devotion to God, her kindness and generosity, her enthusiasm toward duty and a wonderful dry sense of humor that just bordered on naughty.
