WILLIAMS, CLARA B. Clara Boozer Williams, a longtime resident of Gainesville, passed away Jan. 1, 2010. She was 88. Mrs. Williams was born in Jacksonville, FL to Wilson Oliver and Eva McTimmons Boozer. She was a graduate of Lee High School in Jacksonville and attended Florida State College for Women (now FSU) where she was a member of Phi Mu Sorority. She is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Willard E. Williams who died in 2004. She is also preceded in death by her parents and three siblings, sisters Betty Boozer Price and Ramona Boozer Roselle, and brother, Wilson O. Boozer, Jr. She is survived by a daughter, Paula Williams Neumann of Ashton, MD; two sons, Willard E. Williams, Jr. and James D. Williams of Gainesville; and two grandchildren, Susan Margaret Williams and Paula Grace Williams, also of Gainesville. During WWII, Mrs. Williams worked for the U.S. Army at Camp Blanding and for the U.S. Navy in Key West, FL while her husband served in the South Pacific with the Navy. Throughout her life she was active in civic affairs in Gainesville and was a former member of the Gainesville Woman's Club, Garden Club, Junior League, PEO, Phi Mu Alumnae, and the First Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday school. The family will hold a private memorial service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in the name of Clara Boozer Williams to Haven Hospice of North Central Florida, 4200 NW 90th Blvd., Gainesville, FL 32606. Arrangements are under the care of Milam Funeral and Cremation Services of Gainesville.
