Charles E. "Chuck" Williams of Lodi Charles E. "Chuck" Williams, age 77, of Lower Lake Road, passed away at Community General Hospital in Syracuse, on Wednesday (Dec. 10, 2008). Chuck was born on October 7, 1931 in Oneonta, NY son of the late Robert and Irma (Scholl) Williams. He retired from Binghamton Psychiatric Center in 1986, where he had been the Plant Superintendent and then, Assistant Business Officer. His career led him to various facilities in New York State, such as, Willard, Sampson, Poughkeepsie, and Ogdensburg. He was an integral person in the oversight of the construction of Broome Developmental Center. Throughout his lifetime, he had been active in various Methodist Churches, and had been a member of the Ovid Federated Church at the time of his death. His other memberships included the Harley Owners Group, American Motorcycle Association, and the Good Sam Club. Chuck had been elected Justice of the Peace in the Town of Lodi and volunteered for the Lodi Fire Dept. For many years he served on the Board of Directors of the GHS Federal Credit Union. He enjoyed time spent with his family, camping, motorcycling, and spending winters in Zephyrhills, FL. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Ethel (Nivison), his children, Mark (Karen) Williams of Willard, NY, Beverly (Kenneth) Patrick of Windsor, NY and Carol (J.Scott) Armstrong of Binghamton, NY; grandchildren, Ashley, Brock and Stephanie Williams, Andrew Patrick and Chelsea and Brooke Armstrong, a sister; Nancy (Bill) Richardson of FL, and half sisters, Louise Malone of PA, and Ruth Adams of IA, and a brother in law, Richard Gallusser of Oneonta. He was predeceased by his sister Marjorie Gallusser, half brother Robert Williams, his special Aunt and Uncle, Welma and Otis Brockway and his granddaughter Amy Williams. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 5:00 pm on Sunday (Dec. 14) at Covert Funeral Home, 7199 Main Street, Ovid. A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Monday (Dec. 15) at the Ovid Federated Church, 7137 Main Street, officiated by Pastor Diane Walker. Interment will be held privately at Seneca-Union Cemetery in Valois. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Chuck's memory may be directed to the Ovid Federated Church, PO Box 340, Ovid, NY 14521.
