WATERFORD Bernadette C. Nadeau, 89, of Saratoga Ave., Waterford, passed away quietly at home Thursday, February 5, 2004 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease, surrounded by her family and friends who loved her, and her guardian, Red. Born August 8, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Bernadette Moreau and Gaspard Daigneault and the widow of Leon Bill (Buffalo) Nadeau. One of 10 children, she is survived by her only living brother, Gilbert Daigneault of Colonie, N.Y. and Largo, Fla. She was the mother of Royal and Leo Niles of Sacramento, Calif., Bernice Niles of Colonie, Barbara McNulty of Cohoes, Leon and Gilbert Nadeau of Clifton Park, William, Thomas Nadeau and Elizabeth Fredette of Cohoes and Beatrice Nadeau of Waterford. Also Laurent (Larry) Nadeau of Houston, Texas and the late Donald (Ducky), Bernard (Chick) and Gerald (Jake) Nadeau of Cohoes. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews. Bernadette was educated at St. Marie's school in Cohoes and was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church, Congress St., Cohoes. Bernadette was a past member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion for several years. She enjoyed sewing and making clothes and worked as a seamstress for many years. Having gotten her driver's license at the young age of 54, she loved traveling and visiting family and friends in Atlanta, Ga. and parts of Fla. during the winter months and enjoyed spending time in the country during the nicer weather. Some of her favorite things to do were crocheting, gardening and going to bingo. The thing she loved most of all was spending time with her family. Bernadette's family would like to thank Community Hospice for the loving care she received during the last months of her life, specifically Judy Geiss and Wendy Somers and also a special thank you to Dr. Kevin Costello. Special thanks to Community Direct Choices for providing the extra help we needed to care for our mother at home. Especially we would like to thank Tammy and Nicole for the wonderful loving care they gave Mim. Funeral from the Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ltd., 105 Vliet Blvd., Cohoes, Saturday morning at 9:30 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial from St. Joseph's Church, Cohoes at 10 o'clock. Interment, St. Joseph's Cemetery, Waterford, N.Y. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home, Friday, 4-8 p.m. Those wishing to remember Bernadette may make contributions in her memory to the Alzheimer's Assoc.
