KING, Winifred December 31, 1927 - March 19, 2009 Winifred King passed away peacefully on Friday, March 19, 2009 in Victoria, B.C., at the age of 81 years. Winifred "Winnie" (nee Harvey) was born in St. Helen's, Merseyside, England. Lovingly remembered by her family: one brother, Joseph of England; children, Dennis (Sandra) of Edmonton, Moira (Michael) of Victoria, Norine of Saskatoon, Christine (Darcy) of Florida and Kelly (Royce) of Victoria; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, friends and caregivers -- all who will treasure their time and memories with Winnie. Predeceased by her loving husband, John Edward; parents, Peter and Catherine; siblings, Peter, Paddy, Anne, Theresa, Jim, Kitty, Mary and Tom. Having lived most of her life in Edmonton, Winnie's recent passing illunimates the abundance of her accomplishments: 58 years with the Catholic Women's League (in both St. Michael-Resurrection and Assumption Parishes), more than 30 years and a former Vice President of the Royal Canadian Legion (215 Ex-Service Women's Branch), and a long-serving team member of the St. Michael-Resurrection Catholic Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) -- to name a few. Reverend William Hann will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at Assumption Catholic Church, 9040 - 95 Avenue, Edmonton on Friday, March 27, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. with interment to follow at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery.
