Winifred Elaine Age 75, of the Homestead, #418 North Main Street, Penn Yan, NY, Sunday, December 28, 2003, at her residence. She was born October 11, 1928 in Elkland PA, the daughter of Alfred and Ola Merrick Thurston. She retired after working for over "20" years as a nurse's aide at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital, Penn Yan, NY. She also worked for "5" years for Corning, Inc. She was a "homemaker" and a member of the Eastern Star. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Edward Babcock, Greece, NY, and Loretta and Clayton Smith, Geneva, NY; a son and daughter-in-law, James and Bernetta, Penn Yan, NY; son, William "Bill" King, Penn Yan, NY; 12 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is also survived by two brothers and sisters-in-law, Alfred "Al" and Lorraine Thurston, Elkland, PA, and Albert "Abe" and Lorraine Thurston, Painted Post, NY. She was preceded in death by a son, Robert L. King, in 1989. Robert was serving in the 101st Airborne Division, at the time of his death. Family and friends are invited to call at the Kenyon Funeral Home, Inc., #214 West Main Street, Elkland, PA, Tuesday from 12 to 2 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. immediately following the visitation, with Rev. Larry O'Dell officiating. Burial will be in Howland-Merrick Cemetery, Deerfield Twp., PA.
