THORPE, William Henry (Lt. Col. Ret)Passed away on December 22, 2011 at the age of 79. Born on March 24, 1932 in Pittsburgh, PA and raised in Tarboro, North Carolina. Bill Thorpe is a graduate of Tuskegee University, the University of North Dakota, and a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. A highly decorated Air Force officer, he received multiple awards and accommodations, and served as Commander of the TSU AFROTC. Bill is preceded in death by his wife, Lessie Mae (Walker) Thorpe and is survived by three daughters, two granddaughters, and a great granddaughter. Public viewing will be held Tuesday, January 3, 2012, 2p.m.-6p.m., at Lewis & Wright Funeral Home. Family visitation, Wednesday, January 4, 2012, 11a.m.-12Noon, Lee Chapel A.M.E.
