LITTLE RIVER – A memorial service to celebrate the life of Wanda Sowell Williams, 62, of Little River, and formerly of Kershaw, is 11 a.m. Thursday morning, Nov. 13, 2014, at Baker Conference Center, 105 N. Minor. St., Kershaw. The Rev. Bryant D. Fersner will officiate.Wanda died Saturday, Nov. 8, 2014, at Grand Stand Regional Medical Center, Myrtle Beach. Born in Camden, she was a daughter of Myrtis Ann Faulkenbery Sowell and the late Paul Harold Sowell. She was a registered nurse at Springs Memorial Hospital, Lancaster and Kershaw County Medical Center, now KershawHealth. Mrs. Williams also owned and operated Occasions Flowers and Gifts in Kershaw for a number of years. She was a graduate of Kershaw High School and the nursing program at the University of South Carolina Lancaster. Wanda enjoyed the beach, playing the piano and sewing. She also was a member of First Baptist Church, Kershaw.Surviving, in addition to her mother of Camden, are her husband, Stephen Williams of Little River; her daughter, Stephanie W. Thompson and her husband, Jody, of Longs; two grandchildren, Lauren and Parker Thompson; two sisters; Ginger S. Kozelski and her husband, Ken, of Camden, and Amy S. Sigmon and her husband, Ike, of Liberty Hill; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Harold Wayne Sowell.The family will receive friends following the service at the Conference Center.Floral tributes will be accepted and memorial contributions may be made to Make-A- Wish Foundation, 225 South Pleasantburg Drive, Suite B8, Greenville, SC 29607 or sc.wish.org.
