DEVINE, VIRGINIA WHELAN, 94, of Louisville, died Wednesday at Hurstbourne Healthcare Center. She was a member of St. Matthews Baptist Church, St. Matthews Women's Club, Senior Citizens East, American Association of Retired Persons-Chapter 564, Shawnee Post American Legion Auxiliary, Louisville Girls High School Alumnae Club and the Filson Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack W. Devine. She is survived by three nieces, Elaine Swope, Sharon Whelan of Louisville, and Nadine Kaelin of Fredricksburg, IN, and three nephews, Dr. Joseph Whelan of Charlotte, NC, Bill Whelan and Roger Whelan both of Mt. Washington. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Ratter-man's, 3711 Lexington Road, with burial in Cave Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon-7 p.m. Sunday. Expressions of sympathy may be made to her church building fund or the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
