BARNES, VIRGINIA M.Keystone Heights - Virginia Minna Burkholder "Ginny" Barnes died in Keystone Heights on Monday, November 24th, 2008. She was 85. Mrs. Barnes was born in Jacksonville, Florida, and moved to Earleton from Miami in 1986. She moved to Keystone Heights, under the superior care of Pat Wooten, when "Buck" Barnes, her husband of 54 years, passed away in 2001. She was a member of the Keystone United Methodist Church. She graduated from the University of Alabama, where she was President of Alpha Chi Omega sorority. Ginny was awarded a Master's Degree from the University of Miami in 1971. She retired from the Dade County Public School system as a teacher of the fifth grade, English as a Second Language, and Reading Specialist. In 1984 she received special commendation from the State of Florida for her outstanding contribution to students, fellow teachers, and state curriculums. Survivors include her daughter, Linda Eileen Barnes of Portland, OR, her son, Robert Dodge Barnes of Atlanta, and her granddaughter, Linda Anne "Annie" Barnes, also of Atlanta. Funeral Services will be held 11 AM on Friday, December 5, at Keystone United Methodist Church, Keystone Heights, FL, with Pastor Don Corbitt officiating. Burial will follow in Keystone Heights Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to then return to the church for lunch. Arrangements are under the care of Moring Funeral Home, Hwy 26, Melrose, Fl, 32656. The family will receive friends at the Moring Funeral Home from 5 PM to 7 PM on Thursday, December 4th, 2008.
