CARENCRO -Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 23, 2005, at a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Carencro for Irene Latour, 85, the former Victoria Irene Guilbeau, who went home to her Lord and Savior, at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2005, at Lafayette General Medical Center in Lafayette following a lengthy illness.Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Lafayette.The Rev. Bill Melancon, pastor of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, will officiate at the services.Ms. Latour was a native of Ossun and a resident of Lafayette for most of her life. She was a parishioner of St. Peter Catholic Church in Carencro.Survivors include one great granddaughter, Rebecca Elizabeth Escott, of Lafayette; one granddaughter, Heather Albritton Escott and her husband, Damian Escott, of Lafayette; two grandsons, Ryan and Kyle Albritton, of Houston; one sister, Solange Hernandez; and one brother, Milton Guilbeau, both of Lafayette; and one daughter, Lucinda Latour, of Carencro. Known as "Nan" to many, she is also survived by several dear nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by one daughter, Rebecca Latour Albritton; her former husband, Wesley Latour; her parents, Lydia and Augustin Guilbeau; two brothers, Raoul and Viateur Guilbeau; and three sisters, Laurance Trahan, Winnie Dupuis and Amy Guilbeau.A rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. this evening in the funeral home.The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. today and will continue from 8 a.m. Friday until service time.The family wishes to thank Hospice of Acadiana and the fifth floor staff of Lafayette General Hospital for their kindness and gentle care during the final weeks of her life.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston Street, Suite 200, Lafayette, LA 70503-3240.Melancon Funeral Home of Carencro, 4615 N.
