Verna Lee Ruth Williams -Savannah- Verna Lee Ruth Williams, entered eternal rest on Thursday, October 19, 2006 at Candler Hospital. She was a native of Hampton, SC and lived in Savannah many years. She was a faithful member of Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church where she sang in the Choir until her health failed. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Carl Williams; two sons, Walter Williams, Kenneth Williams and Bobby Knight and a daughter, Gwendolyn Williams. Survivors are four sons, Oscar (Delores) White of Brooklyn, NY, Napoleon (Sherry) Ruth, John (Shirley) Ruth, Rev. Larry (Lorraine) Knight all of Savannah, GA; three daughters, Bertha L. Simpkins of Savannah, GA, Shirley Williams of Augusta, GA, Vanessa Williams of Savannah, GA; one sister, Rhunell Johnson of Fairfax, SC; 23 grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren; daughter -in -law, Shirley Smith Knight of Savannah, GA; a sister -in -law, Hattie Mae Ruth of Savannah, GA; a close friend of the family, Dennis Stepherson of Savannah, GA; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
