WINTERPORT -- Sharon Louise Anderson, 50, passed away on Monday, Nov. 29, 2010, at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor in the presence of those she loved.Sharon fought bravely and hard against cancer. Her strength of will and determination was and is an inspiration for her family and the many people who were blessed to have her in their life. Sharon was the daughter of Raymond and Gay Anderson and grew up in Wells, graduating from Wells High School. A bright scholar and an avid athlete, Sharon graduated from nursing college at Southern Maine Vocational Technical Institute. Kenneth Smith and Trevor Lea-Smith are her sons from her first marriage. She worked as a nurse while raising her sons on a farm in Searsport. She became a self-taught, master finish carpenter and helped to instill in her sons a strong work ethic and a deep appreciation for the beauty and intricacy of the world around them. After separation and moving to Winterport, Sharon went back to school, where she received an associate degree in occupational therapy, graduating summa cum laude from Kennebec Valley Community College. She then transferred to the University of Maine, Orono, simultaneously completing an art degree and a masters in psychology, graduating summa cum laude; and she completed her masters of education in counselor education with a 4.0 gpa, all while working as a nurse and having two teenage sons at home. After working in her new field, Sharon decided to pursue other interests. She became a pipefitter for Cianbro and worked there until her medical treatments intensified. In the years during school, Sharon reconnected with her childhood love, Regan Young, and they shared a relationship bound by the strongest love until the end. Sharon is survived by her parents, Raymond and Gay Anderson of Vienna; her brother, Paul Anderson, and his wife, Annette, of Falmouth; her sister, Julie Anderson, and nieces Jessica Anderson and Michelle Morris, of Litchfield; sons Kenneth of Winterport, and Trevor and his wife, Anna, of Sandnes, Norway; and her partner, Regan Young. Sharon's family and friends will miss her terribly, and they will continue to live their lives in the way that Sharon lived: with strength, compassion, equanimity, hard work, and abundant humor. We will miss you Sharon: You will always live through us and through the lives of your grandchildren, and we love you.A celebration of her life service will be held for Sharon at North Vienna United Methodist Church in Vienna, Saturday, Dec. 4, at 1 p.m.
