On February 8, 2008, at the McCall Hospice House, surrounded by her family, Ruth Clark Cooper closed her eyes to her earthly life and opened them in the presence of her Lord. Born in Thomaston, Ga., Mrs. Cooper was the wife of William Alton Cooper and the daughter of the late Don Clark and the late Ethel Blakeley Clark Holcombe. She was an office administrator for Duke Power for 33 years and a member of Mauldin First Baptist Church for 22 years. In addition to her loving husband of 60 years, Mrs. Cooper is survived by two daughters, Marjorie Watson and her husband, Larry of Greenville, and Cathy Fulwood and her husband, Steve of Bradenton, Fla.; a sister, Edna Chambers of Greenville; two brothers, Drue Clark of Greenville and Don Fowler of Pelzer; four grandsons, David Watson and his wife, Rhonda of Greenville, Kevin Watson and his wife, Debbie of Greenville, Jeremy Fulwood and his wife, Alana of Bradenton, Fla. and Adam Fulwood and his wife, Laura of Old Fort, Tenn.; and nine great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 4:30 until 6 p.m. on Sunday, February 10, 2008, at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, February 11, 2008 in the chapel of the funeral home. Entombment will be at the Clyde Gaffney Mausoleum of Woodlawn Memorial Park.
