Ruby Lee Wallace WoodsApril 3, 1927 - July 27, 2009In the early morning hours of July 27th the Lord took her home so that she could rest her poor tired body. After a very courageous fight with cancer, Ruby Lee Woods, age 82, passed from this life.Ruby was born in Rosinton, Alabama and lived in and around that area until she graduated from high school. She then moved to Pensacola where this country farm girl met and married Carl Owen Woods, a city boy. Family, home and tradition were so very important to Ruby. Being a homemaker and mother of 9 children was more than a full time job.Ruby loved to travel. She believed that you should always go to see new places and new things. She truly cherished her memories of all the trips and travels that she shared with her loved ones.Ruby was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years Carl Owen Woods, her parents Tommy and Nora Wallace, sister and brother-in-law Bill and Louise Billups, brother Thomas Wallace, daughters Lynda Gayle and Evelyn Margaret Woods and son-in-law Roy G. Wild.Ruby was surrounded by her loving children Connie (Rip) Pollock, Helen (Dan) Miller, Pat (Arthur) Beaver, Teresa Barnett, Carlette Woods, Carl Woods, Cathy Woods-Wild, Kim Kulig and her four legged son for 15 years Yorkieman; Grandchildren Charlie Brahier, Clint Beaver, Ashley (DJ) Meloy, Tiffany (Patrick) Cayton, Bobby Miller, Tracie (Ryan) Miller and Ryan Miller; Great Grandchildren Tina, Matthew and Timmy Beaver, Even and Ella McNally, Bryan Miller and soon to be Braily Cayton; Brother and Sisters Frankie (Tish) Wallace, Sally (Clyde) Bennett, Richard (Betty) Wallace, Jimmy (Kitty) Wallace, Joy (Chubby) Boykin and Billy (Judy) Wallace.As if Ruby didn't have enough children and grandchildren, she extended her motherly and grandmotherly love to James and Brenda Fuller, Gracie Phillips, David Fabbiani and Amanda Lagergren.Ruby was blessed with a life long friend from childhood who she loved dearly, Louise Delay.Lord, thank you for giving us Ruby. Mama we were so blessed to have had you for so long. Rest peacefully; you will forever be in our hearts.Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 29, 2009 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Eastern Gate Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held Thursday, July 30, 2009, at 1:00 p.m. at Eastern Gate Memorial Funeral Home, with Pastor Dave Stafford, of Liberty Church officiating. Pallbearers: James Fuller, Al Neifert, her nephews Tommy Wallace, Burr Wallace, Bruce Wallace, Mike Bill, Alan Nelson and Paul Bennett. Honorary Pallbearers: Brothers Frankie Wallace, Richard Wallace, Jimmy Wallace and Billy Wallace and Brothers-in-law Clyde Bennett and Chubby Boykin. Graveside service will follow at Rock Cemetery in Robertsdale, Alabama.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Covenant Hospice.Eastern Gate Memorial Funeral Home and Gardens is entrusted with the arrangements.
