Avis de décès de Roland E. Godin


FITCHBURG -- Roland E. Godin, 85, of Fitchburg, died Saturday evening, Nov. 5, in The Highlands Care Center, after an illness. He was born on May 12, 1920, in Fitchburg, the son of Edouard and Marie A. (Tousignant) Godin and lived all of his life here in Fitchburg. He attended St. Bernard’s Central Catholic High School and then in 1943 he enlisted into the U.S. Marine Corps and served during World War II. After the war he went on to work as a punch press operator at Simonds Saw & Steel Co. in Fitchburg and worked there for 37 years until his retirement in 1983. Mr. Godin was a member of the Recreation Club at Simonds. He was also a collector of model trains of which he had an extensive collection. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Fitchburg. His wife of 61 years Clara F. (Sternat) Godin died in 2004. Mr. Godin leaves his four sons, Ronald E. and his wife Karen Godin of Lunenburg, Michael P. and his wife Nancy Godin of Ashburnham, Richard D. Godin of Athol and James C. Godin of Leominster; his two daughters, Christine F. and her husband James Clish of Townsend and Claire M. and her husband Peter Jancaitis of Lunenburg; two brothers, Philip Godin of Tennesee, and Norman P. Godin of Fitchburg; five grandhcildren, Steven Houle of Boone Mill, Va., Eric Jancaitis of Lonoke, Ark., Lisa Jancaitis of Hudson, and Jesse and Jason Godin both of Ashburnham; four great-grandchildren, Kyle and Ryan Jancaitis of Lonoke, Ark., and Victoria and Ricky Houle of Massachusetts; and several nephews and nieces. He was pre-deceased by his two brothers, Arthur Godin of New Jersey, and Joseph Godin of Gardner; two sisters, Florence Chaisson of Fitchburg and Cecile Godin of Leominster. GODIN -- On Nov. 5, Roland E. Godin, 85, of Fitchburg. The funeral will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 8, from the Lavery Chartrand & Alario Funeral Home, 99 Summer St., Fitchburg, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, 58 Walnut St., Fitchburg. Burial will be private at the request of his family. A calling hour will be held Tuesday morning, Nov. 8, from 8:45 until 9:45 a.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to St. Jude’s Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105-1942.
