Mr. Robert W. Smith, age 87, of Florence, died Saturday, Aug. 31, 2002. Visitation will be Sunday, Sept. 1, from 6-9 p.m. at Spry Serenity Chapel Florence. A graveside service will be Monday, Sept. 2, 2002, at 11 a.m. at Florence City Cemetery, with full military honors. Brother Robert Huffaker will be officiating.He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, having served in the Normandy invasion force. He was a member of the Church of Christ.He was preceded in death by his wife, Cora Smith, and grandson, Joel Smith.Survivors include daughters, Judy Puckett and husband, Jimmy, of Tuscumbia, Linda Cummings and husband, Kenneth, Nancy and Peggy Smith, all of Florence; son, Bobby Smith and wife, Sherry, of Tuscumbia; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren.Pallbearers will include Timothy, Tony, Shannon and Adam Smith, Shane Puckett and Joey Conrad. Honorary pallbearers will be Dean Lindsey and Joey Duke.Spry Serenity Chapel, Florence, is directing.
