PORT ORANGE - Robert Norman "Doc" Davis, 74, of Herbert Street, who retired in 1993 as a mechanical engineer, died Friday at home. Mr. Davis was born in Daytona Beach, and was a lifelong resident of this area. He was a graduate of Georgia Technological Institute. He designed parts for Lockheed C-130 Hercules, worked for Daytona's Fish Carburetor, Cape Canaveral, was a local commercial fisherman and shrimper in the early 1960s and has built cabins in Alaska and North Carolina using solar and water powered systems. He was a master Mason of Halifax Lodge No. 81 F&AM. Survivors include his companion of 30 years, Janna, and two daughters, Linda Davis, Homer, Alaska, and Virginia Hodkoski, Port Orange, all of who provided for his care; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1620 S. Clyde Morris Blvd., Suite 300, Daytona Beach, FL 32119; or to Hospice of Volusia/Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129. NewLife Cremation, Ormond Beach, is in charge.
