HUBBARDTON - Robert George Paul, 62, died June 2, 2009, at his Davenport, Fla., home.He spent four years as a meteorologist in the U.S. Air Force, three years with the U.S. Army as a sergeant in charge of the motor pool and served in the U.S. Army Reserve.He worked as a mechanic at Kinney Motors and drove tractor-trailer for several years. In Florida, he was owner/operator of D's Small Engine Repair until retiring in 2008.Mr. Paul was a member of Center Grange 290, Hubbardton Volunteer Fire Department and the American Legion.Survivors include his mother, Ruth Paul of Hubbardton; his wife, Diana Sawtell; two sons, Robert Jr. of Fair Haven and James of Westerly, R.I.; four grandchildren; two brothers, Terry of Chester, Va., and Carroll of Rutland; a sister, Cheryl of Hubbardton; several nieces and nephews.He was predeceased by his father, George Paul.The graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19, in Hillside Cemetery in Castleton followed by a reception at the Paul home, 5300 Monument Hill Road, Hubbardton.View the guest book at www.rutlandherald.com/ obits.
