Nov. 7, 1921 - May 19, 2011 Robert Elias, 89, of Huntsville passed away Thursday. Mr. Elias was an aerial gunnery instructor while serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He earned an engineering degree from Tri-State College and worked for Chrysler in Cape Canaveral, Fla. He was also employed as a civil service employee at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville. He was a member of Whitesburg Baptist Church. Mr. Elias was predeceased by his wife and mother of his children, Esther J. Elias, and his wife, Jacqueline M. Elias. He was also predeceased by a daughter, Martha E. Wilkerson, and two grandsons, Robert E. Brown and Joseph R. DeLucca. Survivors include daughters, Beth Miller and husband Roy of Huntsville, and Katherine Delucca of Boca Raton, Fla; grandchildren, Matthew Miller, John Miller, and Roger and Betsy Pruitt, all of Huntsville, and Danielle DeLucca, and Katie and Craig Port, all of Boca Raton; great-grandson, Joshua Port of Boca Raton; and sister, Marian Freeman. A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Maple Hill Cemetery with Dr. Jimmy Jackson officiating. Laughlin Service Funeral Home is assisting the family.
